I have three oriental AGTs: Keiko was my first, purchased as soon as she was released in 1995. Tsuki came in 1997 and Midori in 1998. Keiko is my companion for watching Michelle Kwan and is a very serious competitive figure skater herself. Tsuki is half Japanese, half Vulcan and is a Time Traveller from around the era of Star Trek Next Generation. (Star Trek Captain and I had the same idea independently!) Midori came from a friend and I repainted her and gave her pierced ears so she is a very modern AGT. Tsuki has Vulcan eyebrows and an asymmetrical haircut.

I also loved Morgan, my AGT11, so much that I simply had to have more. Morgan, Keiko and Gina all arrived in the same box and I still love them probably more than any of my other AGTs! Starflower has actually come and gone three times. I bought another AGT11 and kept her for several years while I photographed the Selkasset storyline. When the story ended (or so I thought), I ended up giving her to a little girl who really needed an AG who looked like her. In the meantime, I found another wonderful AGT11 on ebay who belonged to an adult collector and arrived with the name of Bridget. Eventually I sold her when I started buying bears and needed money, but I missed her. I also missed Starflower so I went back on ebay and bought a doll I thought was pre-Mattel. She wasn't, but she was so bouncy that I didn't care. So she became Bridget #2. My second attempt at replacing Star was definitely PM but she didn't have "IT" -- Star quality. So I gave her to the adopted daughter of a neighbor. Finally Star replacement #3 arrived and stayed so there is, once again, a Starflower on Selkasset Island. Much though I love Morgan, I have to admit that Bridget has a kickier personality. For one thing, she adores wearing frankly fake hairpieces. And I repainted her in the same style as Midori, so they pal around a lot. Somehow Bridget has always managed to get invited to a good party, no matter which group of my AGs is holding it.

The groupings are how I manage to enjoy multiple versions of the same AG. With 52 dolls to keep sorted out, I have created 8 different groups. The Time Travellers can move between them at will and sometimes the groups get together for a shared event, but most of the time each group does its own thing. I treat them as if each group were an independent AG Club -- except for Selkasset, which has a school similar to Hogwarts located on it, and the TTs. Some groups have 6 members. The largest groups have 9 or 10. Within that loose structure, I have 4 Sams, 2 Kirstens, 7 Mollies, 2 AGTs with light brown hair and eyes and 2 with dark brown hair and eyes. Many of these have had customized faces, haircuts and rewiggings. I have only two sets of twins and the first pair was my first Molly and second Sam -- fraternal twins. The identical twins are the beautiful old Mollies that Lindy sold me last year. They came from Germany, where they had lived together their whole lives, so they demanded to stay together when they arrived here. Sometimes you have to go with the flow...

I have 2 Mollys and 2 Samanthas. I already had one of each when I got the opportunity to adopt 4 dolls and Molly and Samantha were 2 of them.

So, "Sammy" is Samantha's great, great grandaughter (she is the "spittin' image of her G,G grandmother!) and is currently wearing the go anywhere outfit. Molly II is Molly's granddaughter (also looks exactly like her grandmother! LOL) She is currently sporting the beach outfit. . . . sans underpants. Anybody know where I can get a couple of pairs of bloomers?

That's our story.

IG IceSkater and Daniella,

Hi! Thanks! I am glad you like my idea. It isn't really going that well actually. I have the material for her clothes but have not sewn them yet, I only have a few accessories for her so far, and I haven't done much with her hair to make her look very different- I want to, but its just hard because I never seem to have much time and then when I do, I uually don't really know what to do with her.

Out of her stories, I just have her Meet, School, and Christmas stories done, plus a couple short stories. I do NOT have Birthday, Summer, or Changes story done and I really have no ideas about what the plot should be in those anyway.

Basically her series is just about her life in 2304 living in South Dakota (I had to read a LOT about SD because I have never been there lol).

One thing I know is that I do NOT want it to be "silly future"- you know, like the Jetsons or soemthing. I want to make it realistic.

She is nine at the beginning, just like all AG girls, and she lives with her mom and dad, and her grandparents, and her big brother Rodney is away on a spaceship working. Avelie is smart, but she's very shy, but she is trying to get into a special school so maybe someday she can be like her big brother. Well she gets in even though she's a bit younger than the others.

Different things happen in her books, like for example in the School book, a girl from a different planet comes to her school, this is the first time anything like that has ever happened and it is a big deal, but the girl is made fun of because she's different and Avelie wants to help her and be friends with her.

In the Christmas story there is a big accident on the ship Rodney is on and they're not sure is he has survived or not because some people didn't, and Avelie is really worried about him...I have a couple short stories too.

Oh by the way you aksed how to pronounce it, well its "AH-vuh-lee". That "a" is like the "a" in "apple".

Her whole name was Avelie Jordanne Fitzgerald but I am thinking of spelling Jordanne with a "G" because then her initials would be AG and that would be fun.

But her nickname which her grandparents just mostly call her is "Avvie". Like Addy only with a "V" instead.

I don't know if Avelie is a real name or not, I have never heard it anywhere, I just sort of made it up. I wanted it sound...future-y. LOL.

But her best friends name is Georgia, because I thought, you know how nowadays some people have old sounding names and some have modern names? Like some girls are named "timeless" names like Sarah and Katherine and then other girls are named modern things like Crysta and Dakota and modern stuff like that?
Well I thought I'm sure that will happen in the future too so her best friend has an old sounding name "Georgia" and she has a new modern name.

I get excited about it and I like the stories I've written so far but its hard for me to find time to work on it. Plus I don't have any plot lines for the rest of her series (Birthday, Summer, and Changes books- no plot).

Also, it is VERY hard to find realistic accessories because not only do they have to be the right size for an AG doll, they also have to be right for her time period that I made up. I have found some things but I very rarely find anyhting thats really the way I pictured her world to be. And how could I? Its in the future. If it is really in her world, they haven't made it yet!
LOL.

Thanks for the interest, I know this post was incredibly long but when I start talking about Avelie I could go on and on and on...lol

Howdy!
Reading your posting reminded me of one of the best Star Trek novels I ever read.
It narrates the teenage years of Jim Kirk.
It is fascinating, very emotional and incredibly creative! I'll find author and exact title when I go back home tonight (I thought it was "Enterprise, but it isn't).
You may want to read it (if you haven't yet!) since it may provide you with some ideas on the potential story lines for Avelie.
Live Long and Prosper!

The first Felicity was given to me in when she was released for my birthday. My sister attacked her hair, so I used my allowance to send her for a head replacement. That didn't stop my sister and Lizzie got bangs and earrings. I ended up replacing Felicity in 98-99 right before the company went to Mattel. I gave my sister the older Lizzie.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Wow, let me get this straight; your sister attacked your AG dolls not once, not twice but THREE times?! Did she get in any trouble?? Im sorry to be nosy, Im just shocked and appalled, especially since you dont even sound that upset. Man, if my little brother had torn up my Lissie growing up, I would have beaten him and then after my parents punished me for beating up my little brother, they would have given him quite a spanking for ruining the expensive doll they had bought me! LOL

Wow, I didn't realize this many people had multiples for one reason or another!

Cherry, your enthusiasm for AGT11 is catching. I really want her and I'm afraid her not being in the catalog, and the fact that a new biracial girl is going to be introduced soon, makes me worry that she'll be retired. Alas, I just ordered Kaya and I've set a limit for myself of one doll every two months because if I get them more quickly than that we don't seem to bond as well. What to do, what to do...

I was given an old 2nd hand Samantha by a friend. Having another old Samantha made it easier to send my childhood one to the doll hospital for a wig/head makeover. I call the 2nd one Sammie and dress her in modern clothes, but sometimes I still allow her to be her original self.

I agree that seems kinda bad your sis didn't get in trouble? Also, I hope YOU didn't have to pay for fixing the doll's head that SHE ruined!!
